MDMB partner Jennifer Bradley traveled to Richmond this morning to lobby the Virginia Senate’s Committee on the Judiciary in support of HB 1530, which will eliminate the necessity of corroboration for no-fault divorces. The Committee voted 7-6 in favor of reporting the bill to the full Senate, over the objection of the Family Law Coalition, which took the position that the legislature should not make it easier for residents of the Commonwealth to obtain a divorce. Virginia is currently one of only three states that requires corroboration of no-fault divorce grounds. We have more detail on this bill on our recent blog post here.
