The U.S. Supreme Court decided last Friday, January 16, to address the constitutionality of states’ attempts to ban same-sex marriages. The Court previously declined to review several states’ appeals on the controversial issue, but recent rulings affirming gay marriage bans in Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee have left it with no choice.
The fact that the Court is granting review of these rulings is an indicator that it intends to make clear that bans on same-sex marriage violate the Constitution of the United States.
